To an extent I do agree with you that many English speaking countries have probllems but the language that a certian country speaks (I think) is irrelevant because there are many other countries that do not speak english but have even more problems, then countries that speak English. (latin America or the Middle East for example).
Sometimes I think the sun has burned the peoples brains in the lower latitude regions, which may be why they have so many problems. LOL |

Well surely language dicatates the culture that is exported to other countries speaking the same language via TV and music?????
Could this be why English speaking countries have the greatest problems? |

Who cares what language another country speaks. |

I think a better way to compare such things is to look at which countries have English as their first language. |

The most atheistic countries Sweden, Norway, France, Canada, and many other like countries have a much less abortion rate, teen pregnancy, less divorce, less crime, better education, and a much better quality of life for thier people.
The politicans in these regions dont use religousosity to inhibit the increase of the lifestyles of thier constitutites.
Religon NEVER gave anyone morals, we aere born with them. It has told people to overlook thier moirals to increase intolerence to anyone who is different then them.
Religon has made its followers devolve not evolve. |

Sorry. I do not subscribe to that argument. whilst not exactly a follower of any mainstream religion, I think that modern society would not have evolved as quickly without it.
Religion brought the first laws and laid down the first moral codes of acceptable behaviour. Without it, we would probably still be killing each other over a Pork chop and accepting it as the norm.
During the Rennaisence (sp)? the church still had a firm grip as the main lawmaker and were understandably loathe to give it up, so anything which challenged their version of the world was deemed dangerous to society and may therefore be seen to challenge the very moral fabric of society.
In these enlightened times, the need for belief seems to be more of a personal journey, rather than listening to the bloke in the pulpit twittering on and the belief system that the individual develops is more the stronger for it.
Organised Mainstream religion has its place and has its time, it has done remarkable good for the world at large.
I just think that a large part of mankind has outgrown it now and does not need to hear the lessons it is still preaching.
On a simplistic level, a bit like attempting to teach a mathematician the multiplication tables. He would probably resent the teacher for it. |

I think of how much more advanced the humam race would be if it wasn't for religon. Just look at what happend to Galleo. Religous clerics nearly put him to death for his scientific discoveries, as well as Issic Neuton, or Darwin. Because of religousisity, other scientists were forced in exaile. While potential scientists were forced or pressured to abandon thier questioning and scientific discoveries because of religous perscution, they were to scared to search and discover. |

Religion is a "word" that involves many beliefs. Christianity is simply living "Christ Like" |

I do not believe religion to be evil, religion is the way for the lazy person to life a just life by following the rules and not looking too deeply into the way of the universe.
Religion IS and therefore cannot be evil or controlling. What can be evil or controlling is the man or woman who alters aspects of religion for personal gain or ego gratification.
It is in every person's capacity to look beyond the words of man and look for the higher meaning.
Blindly commiting evil acts against fellow man, because "it is written" will not absolve you of personal responsibility for you misdeeds or gain you any advantage in the eye's of your personal God unless it is an evil God/ess.
The best council cannot be found in any book written by any man, it can only be found within one's self. |

Religon is the Root of all evil. It inhibits one from thinking for themselves, it inhibits one form having a personal relationship with God/dess as one understands it, it forces one to conform to other idologies and treats you like an outcast if you decent. The Clerics get offended when one says publically "All are one", or that Jesus was in fact a socialist.
All Religons are evil ESPECIALLY the Aborhamic ones. They all say that thiers are right and the only way and that everyone else's are wrong. I'm Going to heaven and you're going to hell even though both are just figimants of the imagination. And it's only purpose is to threatin it's followers to conform or else???
Try your own concept of god(however limited it may be), ty to establish your own personal relationship with God/Dess as YOU and no one else understand it. It's much better then conforming to some ficitious lie made up by some egotistical maniac who's only purpose is to control the sheeple.
