Much like the new age fad back in the mid to late 80s and early 90's. Now it seems as that atheism has become more mainstream, probably caused by the hypocrisy of the religious right, and one’s intolerance to it. Do You think Atheism will be followed by much greater personal spirituality? (one having a personal relationship with God as the he/she understands it), without all of the dogma, rules and regulations, rituals and such. What do YOU think? Do you think atheism the new fad (the new IN thing)? Or do you think it’s here to stay? Or is it that we as a society have become more tolerant and accepting of other philosophical ideas, and consequently; they feel more comfortable to come out of the woodwork? Or have people proclaimed atheism because of their rebellion, intolerance, or from personal negative experiences by the religous right? |

| anonymous | 3/11/10 | atheism (to me) is an easy way to not care about religion or spirituality on a whole, I believe that certain people are put here on this planet at this time to learn something else. We all learn in our own time and we fear what we dont understand hence the bashing of those who think they know the truth. I do not condone any malicious words or actions against anyone of any faith because it is immoral. I believe that the end of days is a metaphor not an actual event, the past proves it so. We are not the only humans who have ever existed and to them within their life spans were concerned with the ending as well,had their predicted times and dates etc. SPIRITUALITY IS PERSONAL, religion is a way to be comfortable being part of a massive collection of others of like mind, it serves its purpose and gratefully so...to those who need it. Truth is the warmth of sunlight on your skin, god doesn't expect us to believe others but to believe what we ourselves have come to know through him/her.. |

| Lefty | 10/9/09 | I've not seen the proof myself but some really good sources have told me that they have the proof and they will gladly present it to me, that Mohammed (PBUH) was a murderer, a rapist, a wife beater, a child molester, and an adultrier. Who was probably hullisinating, tripping, or had his mind altered in some way when the angel Gabriel came to him to dictate to him the Koran. I also suspect that some of the writings were solely to control, and inhibit it's followers to question with some pretty bad consequences if they did.
So I'm not just picking on one religon. But I do think ALL religons and organised faiths are inherently but unwhittingly evil. The old saying; If you're not the lead dog, the view's always the same. |
| Lefty | 10/8/09 | There is NO proof that Jesus ever lived. There is NO documented proof of his existance, no firsthand accounts. He was myth. The Bible and other documents that describe him were written many generations later, and many of them were exaggerated.
It would be like trying to describe a family mamber many generations ago who I never know and only heard about. And was made into a legend or a myth. That's all Jesus was. |

That, I think, is the chief concern of the atheist belief, more than anything. At least check out the Thomas Jefferson quotes. His reasoning for the first ammendment is really fascinating. |

I was a very close minded Christian, at one time but since then I have read the bible from cover to cover (genesis to Revelations), I have also read the Korean, and Bhavadad Gita, The Book of Morman, and some of (not yet all) the Talmud. And the Other books and publications as well. I since put them all down because that all tell the same things, just diffenently. I am especially appalled by religous followers (and you know if you are not the lead dog the views always the same) claiming to be the only right and true faith. (whatever that means), To me athesium means that people are starting to think for themselves. Reciently someone said publically at a meeting that the Bible was an acronym for "Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth". Well that may all well and good but NOT true I am Not going to stone my wife to death on her our wedding dat if she is not a virgin. And burning bulls; the aroma may be may be pleasing to god but not at all pleasing to me or my neighbors and especially PETA. And if you want to really talk the Bible; Jesus was a socialist, the 666 in the bible is organised Religon, Capitalism, and the major corperations. The mark of the beast is our unwhittingly submitting to all of them. I dont want to go to heaven if sheeple like Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, Fred Phelps, John Hegee, and thier followers are all going to be there. Jeesh just imagine having to spend the rest of eternity those wack jobs. That's NOT heavin at all. |

Athiest are still a minority but there voice is getting louder. i have no problems with athiest but i do fell a tad bit sorry for them. they don't have the peace like people of religon do & the hope of meeting there creator who loves them oh so much. anyways it might sound wierd but im glad athiesm is rising cuz like i said it is one of the signs the end is near and as of right now im ready to get out of this miserable reality and go into the one god has for us, HEAVEN!!!!! |
